sharp edges of the Swarm

"Gay-cloaked companies of knights and squires have ridden in, all travel-
stained and dusty. And all the evening long the timid townsmen's doors have had to be quick opened to let in rough groups of soldiers, for whom there must be found
both board and lodging, and the best of both, or woe betide the house and
all within; for the sword is judge and jury, plaintiff and executioner, in these tempestuous times, and pays for what it takes by sparing those from whom it takes it, if it pleases it to do so."

- Jerome K Jerome, Three men in a boat ( to say nothing of the dog )

Tools are created to help man. To serve man. Tools require maintenance. Tools need to be replaced. Tools require creation, attention and sustenance. Tools are entities in themselves. Tools are valued over humans as often as not.
Now, Man serves tools too.

So tell me, were you born to become an engineer or a programmer or a technician who'd keep machines running ? who'd create more of them, fix the broken ones ?
were you born to slavery, your continued living a "favor" to you as long as you keep the machines running ? your time not yours, but primarily for the machines -your interests to be carried out in time leftover from serving the machines ?

LEFTOVER TIME. your life is LEFTOVER TIME

Forget not, that there are subtle machines as easily as there are gross ones.
Invisible to the eye - smaller than ants , larger than mountains they can be.
The economic machine is much a machine as a printing press.
Division of labour is a tool. So are you.

Do you remember ever signing this social contract ? I don't think so. You were born into it.

We don't need a Matrix. The one we have works better.

A sword takes many shapes

archetype

An archetype, a-la Campbell, drawn up, of the Swarm by this bblogger.

Tell me, how would you know if you were in one ?
